Rebels Weightlifting Club Inc. – 2025 Annual General Meeting Recap
Rebels Weightlifting Club Inc. has officially wrapped up its first full year as an incorporated club, and what a year it has been.
From hosting sanctioned competitions and growing our membership base to developing coaches, technical officials, and new athletes, 2025 was a year defined by growth, collaboration, and laying strong foundations for the future.
At this year’s Annual General Meeting, members reflected on the milestones achieved throughout the club’s inaugural year and welcomed the newly elected management committee for the next term.

The club would also like to sincerely thank outgoing committee members and volunteers who contributed their time, energy, and expertise throughout our foundational year.
A Landmark First Year
2025 marked a major turning point for Rebels Weightlifting Club as the club officially incorporated and transitioned into an independent sporting organisation.
This move allowed Rebels to formalise operations, access new funding opportunities, and begin building the infrastructure required for long-term sustainability and growth.
Throughout the year, Rebels focused on improving both athlete experience and event delivery by implementing new systems, expanding volunteer development, and investing heavily into equipment and competition capability.
Highlights from the year included:
- Hosting multiple sanctioned competitions and club events
- Delivering the Stronger Futures Cup alongside local partner clubs
- Hosting the Queensland Youth, Under 15 and Under 12 State Championships
- Expanding coach and technical official development opportunities
- Growing participation through programs like BABES and Lift RX
- Receiving the Queensland Weightlifting Association New Club of the Year Award for 2025
Building Community Through Weightlifting
One of the defining features of Rebels’ first year has been its commitment to community and collaboration.
The club worked closely with other Queensland Weightlifting Association clubs to create more opportunities for athletes, coaches, referees, and volunteers across the state.
Partnerships with clubs including Cougars Weightlifting Club, Body Express Barbell Club, and Southside Weightlifting Club helped strengthen competition opportunities while fostering a culture of support and shared growth within the sport.
Looking Ahead
While year one was about building, the focus now shifts toward refinement and sustainability.
The committee’s vision moving forward is to continue raising standards in weightlifting through:
- Improved internal systems and processes
- Continued coach and technical official development
- Expanded competition opportunities
- Strong community engagement
- Sustainable club growth
With strong foundations now in place, Rebels Weightlifting Club is well positioned for another exciting year ahead.
Thank you to every member, volunteer, athlete, coach, referee, sponsor, and supporter who contributed to our first full year as a club.
