Rebels Represent at the 2025 AWF National Masters
From October 20–24, 2025, the Australian Weightlifting Federation’s National Masters Championships took place in Canberra as part of the Australian Masters Games — and the Rebels Weightlifting Club proudly made their mark on the national stage.
Rebels on the Platform
Two of our Rebels athletes stepped up to compete against some of the strongest Masters lifters in the country:
- Susan Edwards represented Queensland, showcasing incredible determination and skill in her lifts.
- Jess Love, flying the Victorian flag, brought great energy and strength to the platform, representing both her state and our club with pride.
Their performances are a testament to the hard work, consistency, and community spirit that define Rebels Weightlifting Club.
Rebels Behind the Scenes
Big events like the National Masters wouldn’t be possible without the tireless efforts of volunteers — and we’re proud to say the Rebels were also well represented off the platform:
- Kim Hanssen served as a Technical Official, ensuring the competition ran smoothly and fairly.
- Bonney Douglas contributed as a Queensland Team Coach, supporting lifters across the state and sharing her expertise at a national level.
A Strong Showing for Queensland and the Rebels Community
The Queensland Weightlifting Association (QWA) had a fantastic showing overall, with athletes from across the state delivering standout performances and bringing home numerous medals. It’s inspiring to see our club members not only participating but actively contributing to the sport — on and off the platform.
The Rebels Weightlifting Club is incredibly proud of Susan, Jess, Kim, and Bonney for representing both the Rebels community and the Queensland weightlifting family at such a high level.
