Rebels BABES - inaugural program exceeds beyond expectation
This 6-week, women-only course introduced foundational strength movements using barbells, kettlebells, and dumbbells.
The inaugural Rebel BABES program wrapped up with great success, marking an exciting new chapter for women in strength training. This 6-week, women-only course was designed to introduce foundational strength movements using barbells, kettlebells, and dumbbells — and it delivered in both energy and impact.
Hosted by Rebels Weightlifting Club in Capalaba, the program brought together a group of 10 women ready to take control of their strength journey. Under the guidance of Coach Bonney, participants learned key movements including the deadlift, back squat, front squat, strict press, and jerks.
"I couldn't have had more fun teaching this wonderful group of women how to safely become stronger," said Coach Bonney. "Their enthusiasm and willingness to learn made every session a joy."
The final class featured a special guest appearance by Dr. Catriona Melville, who led an insightful women’s health session. Her discussion focused on pelvic health and menopause, highlighting the importance of supporting women's bodies through every stage of life — especially in the context of physical activity and strength training.
The next round of Rebel BABES kicks off June 1st, 2025, and spots are expected to fill quickly. Whether you're brand new to lifting or looking to build confidence in a supportive, women-centered environment, this program is the perfect place to start.
